Stewart Glass LLC, in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), Ohio Department of Development, and the Hocking County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), today announced an investment of over $9.6 million to establish a flat glass production facility in Logan, Ohio, creating 105 new, high-wage jobs.

This announcement follows the USDA Rural Development’s announcement last month announcing its award of a $16.4 million loan to expand and modernize the Stewart Glass manufacturing facility.

“Ohio is emerging as a solar powerhouse, ranking fifth in the nation for solar power growth,” said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. “Stewart Glass’ investment in Hocking County further solidifies the state’s vital role in the global energy supply chain.”

Stewart Glass is revolutionizing the solar glass industry in the United States, delivering high-performance glass solutions designed to support the growth of renewable energy. As a subsidiary of Stewart Engineers, the company builds on a legacy of technical expertise and innovation in float glass manufacturing.

"Stewart Glass’ decision to open a new facility in Southeast Ohio is a pivotal development in the onshoring of solar production,” said JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “Backed by the nation’s third-largest manufacturing workforce, Team Ohio will partner with the company to hire more than 100 employees to support its growth in Hocking County."

The company is locating in the former glass facility in Logan, OH, which was once home to a GE Lightbulb facility and closed in early 2023, to establish what will be the only pattern glass facility in the western hemisphere.

"As a family with deep roots in glass manufacturing—spanning generations of innovation and technical leadership since founding Stewart Engineers in 1986—we are especially thrilled to bring Stewart Glass to Logan, Ohio, and to revitalize this historic site,” said Andrew Stewart, President and CEO of Stewart Glass LLC.

“The incredible support from the Hocking County community, Logan leaders, and our partners at JobsOhio, OhioSE, and the state has been overwhelming and deeply appreciated. Together, we're not only establishing the only pattern glass facility in the western hemisphere but also honoring our family's legacy by creating high-quality jobs, advancing U.S. solar innovation, and building a stronger, more resilient future right here in Southeast Ohio."

The investment is being supported by $400,000 JobsOhio Revitalization Grant and a $600,000 JobsOhio Grant, as well as a Job Creation Tax Credit from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority. Additionally, the project received support through the JobsOhio Talent Acquisition program, which helps identify a company’s talent challenges and builds sustainable talent recruitment strategies that support every stage of a candidate’s journey.

“We and our partners at JobsOhio appreciate Stewart Glass’ confidence in Southeast Ohio and the talented workforce in Hocking County,” said Matt Abbott, President and CEO of OhioSE. “There is great potential for growth at this location. The new jobs and investment tied to this project will work to future ensure the long-term future of this facility.”

As the only pattern glass facility in the western hemisphere, the Stewart Glass facility will serve as a regional catalyst and a national advantage in the global economy. As a subsidiary of Stewart Engineers, the company builds on a legacy of technical expertise and innovation in float glass manufacturing. By prioritizing innovation and efficiency, Stewart Glass aims to reduce reliance on foreign imports and establish a resilient supply chain for the U.S. solar market.

"The Board of Trustees and Staff of the Hocking County CIC are thrilled to welcome Stewart Glass and the Stewart family to Logan, Ohio,” said Joy Evangelista, Executive Director of the Hocking County CIC. “This project represents a positive impact on our community that will be felt for generations to come. We are grateful to the team for hanging on through the multiple challenges that faced this project. Thank you to JobsOhio, OhioSE, the Ohio Chamber, the USDA, Senator Bernie Moreno, Congressman Dave Taylor, and Representative Mark Johnson, Mayor Greg Fraunfelter, and the many others that got this project over the finish line. We could not have done it without you."
