Cole’s Coatings LLC, in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), and Highland County Economic Development, today announced an investment of over $70,000 to renovate its new facility in Hillsboro, Ohio.

Operating since 2021, Cole’s Coatings is a powder coating shop serving individuals and manufacturers in Highland County and the surrounding area. The company offers powder coating for metal surfaces and certified Cerakote services for firearms and automotive parts.

"This expansion represents more than just a new building—it’s the result of years of hard work, long hours, and the determination to build something from the ground up,” said Cole Garlesky, Owner of Cole’s Coatings LLC. “Like many business owners, we’ve faced our share of challenges, but with the support of our community, partners like JobsOhio and OhioSE, and a lot of grit, we’ve made it here. We’re proud to keep growing in Highland County and excited for what’s ahead as we continue to serve our customers with the same passion and quality they’ve come to expect."

The company purchased a 6,200-square-foot metal building formerly used as a laser tag venue and will build upgrades to accommodate its powder coating operation, allowing Cole’s Coatings to expand into industrial markets while still maintaining the company’s reputation for its custom finishes.

“Cole Garlesky, owner of Cole’s Coatings, is the very definition of an entrepreneur and we are pleased to be able to support his dream,” said Julie Bolender, Director of Highland County Economic Development. “Coupling his in-demand skill and business plan with this access to capital, Mr. Garlesky stands ready to grow his business, and our community. We are grateful to JobsOhio and OhioSE for this investment in the small businesses of our region.”

This investment is supported by a $25,000 JobsOhio Small Business Grant. The JobsOhio Small Business Grant provides grants to support the growth of small businesses that face unique challenges because they are either located in a qualifying zip code or are owned by an eligible population, which includes minorities, women, veterans, and people with disabilities. To qualify the company must have an eligible project and meet business size and industry requirements.

“Local companies like Cole’s Coatings demonstrate that entrepreneurship is alive and well in southeastern Ohio,” said OhioSE President and CEO, Matt Abbott. “We are glad to see the company continue to expand its business in Highland County through the JobsOhio Small Business Grant. This grant program has absolutely made a difference in our region.”
